Sharing the Meaning of the Season & Holiday

I wanted to share this with you! I receive emails & notes every year and I feel this is an appropriate depiction of my feelings on Christmas & the Season!

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw His star as it rose, and we have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2

Substantial speculation has been written and discussed over the years about the source of the star and the origin of the wise men, but such discussion misses the point. God sent Christ to earth (John 3:16-17) in fulfillment of many prophecies made over 700 years prior to His birth (Numbers 24:17, Isaiah 9:6, Micah 5:2-5, and so on). It is extremely fascinating that many individuals today want proof that God exists, proof that Jesus Christ lived (and lives), explanations for and from a holy loving God as to why events are unfolding as they are in the world, and demand that God give them whatever they may ask. But that is not what the wise men did. The wise men looked for God, wanted to see where He was living (no matter how humble), asked for no explanation, and gave gifts to Him.

It is also extremely fascinating that thousands of years ago individuals outside the Jewish culture and faith clearly understood that God existed and that it was appropriate to offer sacrifices and gifts to Him. (Of course, those inside the Jewish culture understood this concept even more clearly.) How twisted the human intellect has become that it questions the existence of God and expects Him to make sacrifices and offer gifts to us.

Although it has become trite, it is undoubtedly true that wise men still seek Him and His presence in their life.

Wise men still come to worship Him. Do you?

Merry Christmas!!!

The Inspiration of a Child

These are the GeanPool Children!

Jo - front left

We just left the D-backs game and Jessica Simpson micro concert after the game. It was at the end of this game that my children discovered the inspiration for the soon to be launched online cooking show for Kids... 1/2 a chef!

You see these children were raised in the kitchen with Paula Dean and Chef Emeril. They love Anthony Bourdain and Bizarre Foods with the guy that eats all the weird stuff. They eat everything from chicken nuggets and pizza... to sushi and oysters. They have eaten chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers at the Purdue Bug Bowl and eaten fried frog legs and alligator!

They discovered that they wanted to be on the Jumbo-tron giving something to the kids of the world. They wanted to show the grown-ups that kids can do cool stuff too. (Don't ask me... this is the mind of a child!) Being the encouraging mom I am, I said "Let's look for something you can do well, that you can show other kids how to do!) Of course when we got home, the food channel was the station they stopped on and Boom - The Inspiration of a Child was born! They wanted to start a cooking show!

The morning after the game, they began practice for the show by cooking rice, eggs w/cheese, bacon and toast. They had the hosts (Eli & Jazzy) the Producer/Director (She-she) and the Production/Film Crew (Jo). They had schedules and menus and had begun filming when I walked in the Kitchen!

I sat and watched them work... WOW... I am truly a blessed mom! They had small spats, but otherwise the show went off without a hitch! I will be posting their footage as time goes on...

Keep watching for more to come...
